Education, Health & Justice

We are experienced in carrying our acoustic assessments for educational facilities under BB93. Our consultants have provided acoustic consultancy services for a wide range of educational projects including primary and secondary schools, further education colleges, universities and special needs schools. We have worked on both new build school projects and the refurbishment of existing facilities. Our work has included surveys of external noise levels; building envelope design to control noise intrusion (glazing, ventilation etc); design of sound insulation between areas (walls and floors); design of acoustically absorbent finishes to control reverberation times; acoustic quality and speech intelligibility in assembly halls; design of roofs to control rain noise; mechanical services noise assessment and attenuation design; commissioning tests. We have carried out specialist design of the higher levels of sound insulation and reverberation control required for music facilities.

NoiseAssess consultants are experienced in healthcare acoustic work for hospitals and health centres to HTM 08-01 (Health Technical Memorandum 08-01: Acoustics, Department of Health) and its predecessor HTM 2045. Work includes surveys of external noise levels; design to control noise intrusion; mechanical services noise; room acoustics (the use of acoustically absorbent material to provide a comfortable acoustic environment); design of sound insulation between rooms (to maintain acoustic privacy); design of floors to reduce impact sound (footfall noise); vibration limits for sensitive areas; commissioning tests. We can provide advice for LIFT and P21 projects. We can provide advice and testing for acoustic credits under BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method).

NoiseAssess can also provide acoustic advice and testing services for courts and prisons including speech intelligibility and acoustic quality; sound insulation between areas; noise intrusion and environmental noise assessment for new plant to BS4142. We have the capability for modelling acoustic design parameters using proprietary acoustic modelling software.
